Care Tips:
Lighting: The Alocasia Jacklyn thrives in bright, indirect light. Place it near a window with filtered sunlight, but avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. Find a spot near a north or east-facing window where it can receive gentle, indirect light throughout the day. If the available light is limited, consider supplementing with artificial grow lights to provide adequate brightness.
Temperature and Humidity: This plant prefers warm temperatures between 18-27°C. Protect it from cold drafts and keep it away from temperature extremes. The Alocasia Jacklyn enjoys high humidity levels, so consider using a humidifier or placing it in a bathroom or near a tray filled with water and pebbles to increase moisture in the air.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water your Jacklyn when the top inch of the soil feels slightly dry. Ensure proper drainage by using a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage holes. Be cautious not to let the plant sit in standing water, as it can lead to root rot. In winter or during periods of low light, reduce watering frequency.
Soil and Fertilization: Use a well-draining potting mix specifically formulated for houseplants. A mixture of peat moss, perlite, and a small amount of organic matter works well. Fertilize your Alocasia Jacklyn every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer package for proper dosage.
Pruning and Maintenance: Remove any yellow or damaged leaves to maintain the plant's appearance and overall health. Regularly dust the leaves with a soft cloth to keep them clean and allow optimal light absorption. Pay attention to pests, such as spider mites or aphids, and address them promptly using organic pest control methods if necessary.
Potting and Repotting: Repot your Alocasia Jacklyn when it becomes root-bound, typically every 1-2 years. Choose a pot that is slightly larger and has good drainage. When repotting, refresh the potting mix to provide fresh nutrients for the plant's growth.
Comes in a 12cm plastic pot.
